Our Pastors

Reverends Ryan and Serina Nelson were called to serve the Lord at Church Street Church of the Nazarene in December 2018.  They began preaching on January 6, 2019 and have graced the pulpit with the words of the Lord!  The church is blessed by their leadership and love of Christ.


The Nelsons met in high school and were married in 2011.  They reside in Carlsbad with their precious daughter, Marley Marie, and their fur babies, Ruger, Holly, and Elvis.

REVEREND RYAN NELSON

Ryan grew up in Amarillo, TX. Ryan started in ministry as a youth pastor at North Beacon Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo in 2007. Ryan and Serina served as youth pastors from 2007-2013. In 2013, Ryan and Serina were installed as Lead Co-Pastors of North Beacon Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo, TX. Ryan and Serina served in this role until December of 2018. Beginning in January of 2019 Ryan and Serina were installed as Lead Co-Pastors of Church St. Church of the Nazarene in Carlsbad, NM.


Ryan worked for Amarillo Independent School District from 2007-2018. He served as a tutor, an after-school program coordinator, after-school program director, special education teacher, and physical education teacher.


Ryan loves any sports. His two favorite sports are baseball and college football. During college football, you will often see an Oklahoma Sooners flag flying as the Nelsons are huge Sooner fans. Both Ryan and Serina are avid softball players. If they are not at home, they are either at church or the softball fields. 


REVEREND SERINA NELSON

Serina is originally from Amarillo, TX, and is enjoying the new adventure God called her to in Carlsbad, NM. She is an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene (April 2017) and has been in ministry for 11 years. Serina has been a bi-vocational pastor until her calling to CSCNaz. Her additional career was as a Forensic Scientist and Crime Scene Investigator. Serina grew up in a household of law enforcement officers. Her parents were both in law enforcement, and her father and sister are veterans of the U.S. Marine Corps. Serina is a passionate supporter of law enforcement and the military.

 

Serina loves to play softball as well as read, travel, and create things. She loves music and everything about the beach.
